RAPID
Sponsorship Advertisement | Director, Editor
Commissioned by lecturer Simon Weaving, Sam led a student team to create this sponsorship advertisement for the RAPID research program for the University of Newcastle. To foster a connection between academics and industry, Sam focused on bringing business partners into the university, while encouraging the lecturers to step outside of it.
HUNTER SCRUBS

Initially brought on as a digital media consultant, Sam's role at Hunter Scrubs quickly evolved into website admin and high-quality studio production. His tasks include product management, implementing custom apps and functionalities and creating premium video/photo content.


KONARA KINTAY MALANG
Artwork Launch | Filmmaker
For NAIDOC Week 2024, Hunter Scrubs collaborated with local Indigenous artist Saretta Fielding to create a range of scrubs with an original artwork - Konara Kinta Malang, or "Community Celebrate Together."

Sam conducted an interview package with Saretta and her team to tell the story of her experience working in the healthcare industry, and the heart behind her beautiful artwork.
THE COURIER

In his first year at the University, Sam was selected as part of a senior Communication student team to develop a series of video advertisements to be used in official University marketing.

The Courier was the first of these, with Sam serving as a coordinator, graphic designer, assistant grip, data wrangler and repackaging the edits for social channels.​​


NUTEAMS
Promotional Series | Filmmaker
Based on his previous internal work at the University, Sam was headhunted to film and edit six internal promotional videos for industry partners of the NUTeams program - including titans of Australian engineering such as Banlaw, Sandvik, and Ausgrid, as well as local businesses SafeGroup Automation and Robotics Systems.
SONDER
Advertisement | Concept, Producer, Production Assistant, Editor, Composer
The second of the officially-commissioned student University advertisements, this concept was originally devised by Sam, serving also as writer for this ad.
As well as his previous roles as coordinator, grip assistant and data wrangler, COVID-19 lockdown also meant that he served as sole editor, graphics designer, sound mixer, colour grader and composer.


THE WORLD'S BEST FILM
Independent Documentary Website | Web Design
After creating the mock website used in the Courier ad, Sam was contacted by lecturer Joshua Belinfante, whose documentary feature The World's Best Film was nearing its premiere in 2022.
Sam managed a wide variety of creative assets to form a promotional website. He did further work on Joshua's personal website, Fine Silver, in the same year.
CHROMATIC FESTIVAL 2022
Creative Showcase Website | Web Design
Sam was commissioned by the university to create a website from scratch for the launch of the Chromatic Festival in 2022. Using creative assets from a student team, Sam created the landing page, schedule, and video hosting sites for the festival before attending himself, where four of his projects were entered and two won.


THE FIELDS
Social Media Advertisement | Filmmaker
Despite the constraints of social isolation, Sam was able to create this "viral-style" advertisement for local creative arts school The Fields with only an iPhone, his home, and his family. This promotional video would go on to earn Sam the "Newbie of the Year" award at the 2021 Newbie Awards.
HUNTER CHRISTIAN CHURCH

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Hunter Christian Church required video content to continue its ministry despite social distancing. Sam's technical savvy, heretofore untested, were instrumental to keeping a consistent editing and upload schedule. This marked Sam's first foray into professional video production.
